CHEER, CHEER, CHEER!

This year is off to a great start for the cheerleaders! As of this year they have a new head coach, who has multiple years of experience. Coach Johnson has experience in basketball, ranging grade levels of wrestling, football, and lastly volleyball. During her time she went to state and has even been captain. Along with coaching experience she was a parent volunteer during 2023-2024, an assistant coach in 2024-2025, and as of 2025 to now is head coach of Clear Creek Amana’s cheer team. The varsity cheer team consists of captain Emerald Johnson, and cheer members Makennah Prosser, Abby McNiel, Kailee Carver, Ireland Johnson, Macy Pierce, Emersyn GavinHiatt, and Addison Sotomayor. Every Wednesday, these girls are working hard!

Now here are some words from some members of the team. When asked about her favorite part of cheer, Addison Sotomayor stated that it is “being able to interact with the student section” because she loves “how excited everyone is for football games”. Emersyn GavinHiatt, when asked how the cheer team could improve, she feels “like the team can improve on doing more jumps after cheers”. Lastly, Ireland Johnson says that her favorite part of cheer is ”getting to do something I love with my friends”. It is very clear that this season is going to be a good one and all the girls are really excited to support the football team this year.
