HAM, LAMB, OR UNCLE SAM?

When you think of Thanksgiving, what is the first thing you think of? For me, I think about food and family. Thanksgiving is always a good excuse for going to see family or having family come visit you. But there always seems to be a debate about what the best Thanksgiving food is. I personally think it has to be mashed potatoes and gravy. I decided I would see what the students and teachers of CCA think the best Thanksgiving food is, and the responses might shock you. The most popular food is mashed potatoes and gravy, the second is ham and third is stuffing, which was the most shocking to me. Isn't it funny to think about the symbol of Thanksgiving is the turkey, but the most popular foods are ham, mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing? Out of 6 options of the best Thanksgiving foods, turkey came in last place. The first Thanksgiving meal took place in 1621 and. It is still in 2024. Over 400 years later we are still having a Thanksgiving meal every year. The holiday became really popular in the 1800s and by 1857 the turkey had become part of the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Thanksgiving is always kind of a forgotten holiday. I mean people go straight from Halloween to Christmas and Thanksgiving is just kind of an “oh that's coming up soon” holiday. I think there is only a minimal number of people who really dedicate November to Thanksgiving and I think that's really an important thing because it shows that they care about getting all the people important to them together and happy.
