INSIDE ESPORTS: A PERSONAL PROFILE FT. ROWEN BLOMME

Rowen Blomme is a senior here at Clear Creek Amana High School who is a part of the Esports team. He joined this year for the 2024-2025 season. They had a successful season by winning five games. The following is an interview between Rowen Blomme and The Anchor staff.

Why did you choose to join ESports?

I joined Esports because of my friends Jack Kestel and Matthew Perdue, we all joined the team this year and even though I was a little worried about it at first they encouraged me to join. It has been one of the best decisions I've made. 

How do you handle the pressure or stress?

Before matches Mr. Zorn gives the team pep talks on how we are going to handle our emotions inside and outside the game. He also encourages us to have a positive mindset even in the event of a loss.

How do you work as a team?

During games, the team uses loud, sometimes frequent communication to focus ourselves into the game, with the use of proper communication, it helps the team stay more focused and really feel encouraged to do our best.

What's your favorite thing about Esports? 

My favorite thing about Esports is the bond I've made with everyone on the team, I went from barely knowing any of them to feeling like I'm part of something bigger than myself. I wouldn't have stuck with it if I didn't have the community that's formed within Esports over the past few months. 

Would you recommend this club to someone else?

Esports at CCA has gone from a not-so-serious club to something truly amazing and welcoming to anybody. As somebody who used to take photos for the Esports team, for yearbook, and now being part of it, I've watched it grow and evolve through the past few years and it's been an amazing experience. So yes, I would recommend it to anybody interested in gaming or somebody who wants to get into gaming but doesn't know where to start.
