One of the most famous or infamous boxing matches ever was scheduled for November 15th, 2024. “Iron” Mike Tyson, the previously undisputed two-time champion with a record of 50W-6L, also known as “The Baddest Man Alive, is up against Jake “El Gallo” Paul, famous YouTuber, Influencer, actor, and now a boxer, with a record of 10W-1L. The hostility between the two seemed to come to a head on Nov. 14th when Paul stepped on Tyson’s foot and Tyson retaliated by slapping him. This occurred during the weigh-in, where 27-year-old Jake Paul came in at 227lbs and 58-year-old Mike Tyson weighed in at 228.4lbs.

At 7 PM, November 15th, Netflix began its first live stream and Sporting Event. They aired a few fights before the main event, consisting of Goyat VS Nunes, Barrios VS Ramos, and Taylor VS Serrano, which I have heard many people say was more interesting than the main fight. This all sounds good on paper. It seems like a very interesting event that would have entertained millions of people worldwide, given its absurd concept and the big names of the main fighters. One issue, I didn’t get to watch it live, thousands of people didn’t get to.

Around 9 PM if my memory is correct, my Netflix on our TV stopped working. I was able to pull up the fight on my phone, and even pull up other movies or shows on the TV, but I couldn’t pull up the Tyson VS Paul fight. We tried many different solutions but none of them worked to fix the problem. So my father and stepmother looked online and found thousands of other people with the same problem. My dad opened Facebook and saw many posts of people claiming they were going to cancel their subscriptions the next day. People could claim that since it has been released in a video format where you can watch the live stream at any time, people shouldn’t be upset. I disagree, I feel that a lot of the magic would’ve been to watch it live and see what happened as it happened.

The fight itself was entertaining. Both sides had some decent punches, Tyson kept biting his gloves, and Paul played defense. The fight consisted of 8 2-minute rounds, and both fighters wore 14-oz boxing gloves. I was rooting for Tyson to win, but Paul won by decision.
