Jump Rope for Heart was originally started in 1983, and was focused on fundraising in Australian primary schools. It has now spread to multiple countries such as Canada and the U.S. Amazingly the program was able to raise 1.2 billion dollars in just under 40 years. Jump Rope for Heart has now evolved into the Kids Heart Challenge, a very similar program.

CCA’s NHS program is working to host a Jump Rope for Heart event for the district's elementary schools, and there are many people working to make this happen. The hope is that this event will take place in late April or early May. For those who don’t know what Jump Rope for Heart is, it’s a fundraising program that helps to encourage healthy exercise and eating for younger children whilst raising funds to fight heart disease. Currently some proposed ideas for this district would be a group of students going to each of the elementary’s, talking about healthy activities and eating habits, and potentially having some sort of fun physical activity (jump roping). The goal is to connect with the community and teach younger children about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.
