MEET OUR NEW MASCOT: BLUE!

This year, Clear Creek Amana High School got a mascot for the first time. Its name is Blue and it’s a sailor with a hat, blue pants, and a clipper ship on its shirt. Blue has made appearances at the 9th grade Zero Day and the pep rally on September 6th. Soon, Blue will also start appearing at football games. To learn more, I interviewed Blue. Here are some questions that I asked:

What is it like being the mascot?

It is very hot in the suit. The fingers can cause trouble since there are only four. To be honest, the part in the mask you see out of is limited but not that bad.      

What do you like about being the mascot?     

I like the ability to show off who Blue is and what he's a part of. But in a way, you can't make him too scary but it can’t be too lame either. You don't want to give anyone panic or anxiety attacks with a mascot like this, but you also don't want to just be standing or sitting on the track and look like you were forced to be there.     

How did you become the mascot? Did you volunteer or were you chosen?   

I like to say I volunteered, however in a meeting before school started, it was apparent that the room could only be comfortable having one person become Blue, and that happened to be me at the time.     

What do you know about how the mascot came to be? Why did we get a mascot this year and not in previous years?

I don't know much about Blue's backstory. I did hear from someone that he had a ship with T-shirt cannons that sailed around the CCA gridiron all day. However, ever since the pandemic, it has been missing and Blue has been trying to find it since. Stepping aside from the whole backstory aspect, I believe that the ship in question was the original mascot of CCA, however as said in Blue's backstory, it has long since disappeared. Why has Blue shown up now and not in previous years? Nobody knows. Not even myself!

Overall, it’s exciting to finally have a mascot here at Clear Creek Amana. Our new mascot will be more engaging and fun for the audience at games and pep rallies. And that is more in the know about our new mascot, Blue.
