Clear Creek Amana High School boys soccer seniors are taking time to reflect on their journeys, the memories they’ve made, and the lessons they’ll carry with them after high school. The following senior interviewed were both Jaival Rana and Sam Strank. In this article the main aim is to share how their experiences on the field have been about much more than just the game.

For Jaival Rana, some of his favorite moments came during intense situations where everything seemed to fall into place. He remembers a standout tournament performance where he scored two goals back-to-back, followed later in the season by another two-goal game against Mt. Pleasant. Rana said“It was one of those moments where everything just clicked,”. He went on to say that “It felt amazing to help my team in such a big way.” Despite this great accomplishment, some of his favorite memories went farther than just scoring goals. After one big win, the team celebrated at Pizza Ranch, and that quickly turned into a fun challenge by piling up more than 100 plates of food. Rana shared that “Looking back, it was definitely one of the best moments of my four years.”

Like many athletes, Rana faced challenges along the way. Competing with teammates for playing time on the field pushed him to learn and improve, while balancing the pressures of life on and off the field tested his focus. Through it all, he credits his growth to consistent effort. Spending extra time at open fields and in gyms, practicing skills like juggling and perfecting his curved shots. Finally his advice to younger players is simple but meaningful: stay patient, work hard, and don’t be afraid to learn from mistakes. Rana  additionally says that“When you put in that kind of effort, you give yourself A better chance to find success,”.For Rana’s fellow teammate Sam Strank the memories are just as meaningful though sometimes simpler. His favorite moments come after victories and celebrating at Pizza Ranch.

Strank says that“Going there after a win was always a highlight.”

Strank also pointed out  the challenges of playing in less-than-ideal conditions, including cold and rainy games that tested the team’s toughness. He found growth in becoming a better teammate over the years, emphasizing the importance of supporting others on and off the field. His advice reflects that mindset just as Rana’s did, “Have fun and work hard.”
