Science Olympiad went off without a hitch this year, having plenty of success in their events! Jesse DiLorenzo, advisor of the team, mentioned a stand out project done by Mackenzie Burnett and Olivia Stopko. It consisted of an air power system used to launch a ping pong ball, which doesn’t seem like much at first, but knowing the work put into the project and the result, it’s completely understandable how amazing the work was. Burnett and Stopko could even be seen working on the launch system in the mornings and during Advisory. Their hard work really payed off when you got to see how far it could get the ping pong ball!

Seniors Hayden Miller and Adrian Brandt, as well as Junior Alexander Bethke, made it to state with their incredible skill! Miller and Brandt won first place in Write it Do it, a category where one person writes directions for a random model, while the other person gets the materials and has to put together the model following the directions.

Brandt and Bethke also entered in Optics winning second place! Optics is a category where lasers, mirrors and angles are put to the test. The goal is to hit the target using the latter, and the less mirrors the better. All of these students did fantastic with their complex ideas and great skills!

This year there were a lot of new participants, including Adrian Brandt, Jack Eggers, Karley Griffin, Zavier Kalin, Patrick Rayon, Tessa Mulder, Lizy Ruby, Cooper Eister, Clair Grause, and Bennet Lentz. However, just as there was an influx of new students, there are a lot of seniors graduating this year who deserve some praise for their hard work. Good luck to Adrian Brandt, Luke DiLorenzo, Jack Eggers, Karley Griffin, Zavier Kalin, Hayden Miller, Patrick Rayon, and Olivia Stopko in all of their future endeavors!

Science Olympiad is looking for newcomers for next year. If you are interested or have any questions email Jesse DiLorenzo at jessedilorenzo@ccaschools.org
