Allison Wright, a student teacher working alongside one of our choir teachers Tracy Williams at Clear Creek Amana High School, recently shared her experiences and insights from her time in the classroom. One of the most important lessons she has learned is just how busy and energetic a school environment can be. She admitted she was surprised by “how crazy” things can get, with so many students constantly coming and going. Despite the fast pace, she has been impressed by how both teachers and students manage their time and responsibilities so efficiently.
When talking to Wright it became obvious that music has always been a big part of her life. She has been involved in choir for 12 years, though she says she has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her passion for vocal music comes from her belief that it is a unique form of expression for everyone. In addition, Wright explained that singing allows people to share emotions and qualities that might otherwise go unheard or disregarded by the world. In addition, she always thought of it as creating a meaningful and personal connection through music.
As one of her students that she was able to teach over these past few weeks, I think she will be a wonderful teacher. I say this because she's very sweet and knows how to go about a lot of things even when we don't get it the first time.
Overall, Wright’s experience as a student teacher has strengthened her appreciation for both education and the power of music, showing her how each student brings something unique to the classroom.
