In this crazy time of the year, there are so many activities and celebrations happening in our lives. The most popular of these are Christmas, and New years. But these aren’t the only ones that people in our school celebrate like Los Reyes Magos. For those who don’t know, Los Reyes Magos is a holiday celebrated by Spanish families that originated in Spain. This tradition starts on January 5th with a parade to celebrate the arrival of the three wise men or the three kings, and at night set out food or treats for them (like on christmas eve). Then later that night the kings would leave gifts for the kids and would eat the treats that were out.

Speaking of food in the holidays, CCA students have a mixed and wide variety of what food they have in the holiday season. The most popular of the food being ham or some sort of bird, being turkey or chicken. The second favorite to the top being sweet treats like cookies, hot chocolate, anything with chocolate and cinnamon rolls. Then there's the popular meals like broccoli cheddar and chicken noodle soups, green bean casserole, and cheesy potatoes. Some popular sides that people said were buttered rolls, rosca de reyes (The Three Kings cake), a dough boy (made out of funnel cake), mashed potatoes, and deviled eggs.

Traditions of Students

During the holidays people usually fall into a pattern that they have that turns into traditions. Some of these traditions are as simple as spending time with family and friends to a big feast dinner. Most people spend time with their family by baking and cooking with them, going out to bowl, ice skate, watching movies, decorate cookies, and their house/ tree. Also by going to their relatives' horses to have dinner/ open presents and play games. Some people have their presents hidden around their house on Christmas and Los Reyes Magos.

Favorite Parts of the Holidays

Holidays have a lot going on and some parts of them are less fun than others but we all have our favorite. Some of the CCA’s students favorite aspects of their holidays are spending time with their families, opening one present on Christmas eve, and dressing up their dog. Also you can’t have a favorites aspects list without mentioning food and sweet treats both eating and making them. Some students celebrate God, Jesus and have gratitude for the stuff they have. Others say that the act of giving something to another person. Also a popular one was getting a break from school for a bit.
