Band has always been in the Oktoberfest parade and this year is no different. It is always a great opportunity for the band. Mr. Copeland, the band director, said the band did a great job representing CCA; even though it was warmer than normal, they did a great job. He said, “I often tell the band this is one of the best things we do all year because of all the people we play for. We have such a cool tradition marching in this parade and the community really appreciates it”. Copeland is excited in future years to keep getting better. He said he can't think of anything the band did bad at! Copeland is very thankful to the parent volunteers and Millstream Brewery for the free root beer. Altogether, he really liked Oktoberfest and how the band did.
Morgan Downes is section leader of the flutes. Morgan really enjoyed the people cheering and clapping along when the band played the school song. Morgan says when she was a freshman it was a lot more difficult, but she loves it now! She loves being able to go to all the shops that there are in Amana. Morgan says “ I think it's a good experience for freshmen to do Oktoberfest because it shows how many people in the community care about band and support not just sports”. She also loves to see all the other floats there are at the parade. This year's parade was on homecoming day but Morgan didn’t mind and said there was still plenty of time to go home and get ready. Morgan feels that this year was the best Oktoberfest yet!
