The High School’s Winter Guard team proudly made it through this year's season, with 4th place with a total of 53.25 in our last competition of the season. Unlike Color Guard which occurs alongside marching band during the fall—Winter Guard consists of essentially the same types of performances, but held indoors—and this year marked their first official season of competition! The routine they competed with was based on a "Graveyard" theme, essentially depicting zombies rising from the dead. The routine was performed with four different songs that played throughout the entirety of the competition. The songs played were “Dead Man’s Party” by Oingo Boingo, “Dancing With Your Ghost” by Sasha Alex Sloan, ‘Spooky, Scary, Skeletons” by Andrew Gold, and finally “The Dead Dance” by Lady Gaga.

Something amazing that is being done in the team is the participation of two eighth graders Caroline Branin and Sage Mulford. It is incredible because it also helps our team with more former members and the competition, and continues traditions that the team does. Following this, Color Guard Manager Senior Ella Stineman described a pre-performance tradition that the Color Guard does during the fall and in the winter. Stineman states that “The whole Color Guard gets in a circle surrounding our mascot Hokey Pokey. We then, depending on where we are, loudly or quietly sing and dance the Hokey Pokey”. Also, when asked by a participant how she felt about competing this year, she described it as a bit of a steep learning curve; nevertheless, the team approached the entire season with a great deal of positive attitude. We as Clippers are proud of them—keep up the good work!
