THIS YEAR AT IHSPA

Have you ever been to the IHSPA? The IHSPA stands for Iowa High School Press Association. It’s a fall conference for journalism students that are in programs such as newspaper and yearbook. The CCAHS students who attended this year were students on both the newspaper and year book staff. Newspaper staff includes: Jaidyn Calkins, Raelee Day, Lilyan Janecek, Lili Nandell, Julieta Ortiz, Royce Pohlman, Ella Stinemen, Olivia Fuller, Kali York and Kaitlin Huber. Yearbook staff includes: Rowan Bloome, Malachai Clement, Bash Corely, Gwen Dao, Hailey Faulkcon, Rylee Frank, Gabriela Henriquez Jack Kestle, Brooklyn Merten, Bryson Kray, Raven Tyree, and Ryan Hardy. Newspaper advisor Marissa Moore and Yearbook advisor David Zorn were also in attendance.  Drumroll please…now for awards! For newspaper, in first place for one page design: whole staff. Second place, for one page design: Kaitlin Huber.

Now for the yearbook winners! First place, whole staff for their theme “End of an Era”. Ryan Hardy won an honorable mention for his photography. Hailey Faulkcon won an honorable mention for page design. It is also worth mentioning that other awards were won, however such awards went to students that graduated at the end of last school year. We are so proud and thrilled that we were given the opportunity to go to the IHSPA! Congratulations to all our winners!
