“High School Musical” is a Disney Channel movie that was first officially released on January 20, 2006. In case you didn’t feel old enough, this movie is already 20 years old. Even though it came out a while after I was born, it was still very influential because my sister LOVED Zac Efron and would re-watch the movie time and time again. After a while without seeing it, I watched it again, and it truly changed my life… AGAIN.

The director of this movie also directed “Descendants,” which is another amazing movie. My favorite aspect of the movie was the flow that it had. Compared to other musicals I’ve consumed, this one felt really natural and the songs really follow the narrative of the story. Some of the songs that are like this are “Stick to the Status Quo" and “Get’cha Head in the Game”, the second one being one of my favorites. The general idea talks about Troy's initial conflict, which builds the narrative and gives other characters a purpose.

Another really good aspect of this movie is how memorable some of the characters are, Sharpay being a clear example. The drama, the outfits, the sass, everything is perfect! This movie was really impactful when it came out, and it still stands strong because it talks about problems that still exist. It reminds me a bit of “Mean Girls,” just WAYYY family-friendlier.

If you have never watched this movie, I would recommend it a ton, it is really fun.
