Last December, a Third-Person PVP Shooter known as Marvel Rivals released. It is a “Hero Shooter”, meaning that both teams select from a cast of characters (in this case, Marvel characters such as Spider-Man, The Avengers, X-Men, etc) and battle over an objective. The game has been met with critical acclaim, I believe that it is an amazing game, and I had Josh Gaeta reach out to Ethan Kohnen to get his opinion on the game. He said the game is “a cool game” and “feels fresh to the community”. Ethan praised Marvel Rivals for its character team ups, allowing certain characters to gain new abilities based on what combinations you bring. He also praised the game for maps and extensive list of characters it could add. Various streamers online have said the game is so good that is could potentially “kill” overwatch, Marvel Rivals’ main competition. So far since it’s release, Marvel Rivals has reached a peak player count of over 600,000 and doesn’t seem to be slowing down with its fresh content and innovations to the genre. The creators, NetEase Games, have added four new characters and one new map to the game. The next season is set to be released in less than two weeks, and many speculate it is going to be based off of Marvel Comics’ Hellfire Gala.
