20-year-old American singer and songwriter Shane Boose, better known by his stage name Sombr, has found himself in a bit of “drama” after an incident at a recent concert of his. As of this year, Sombr has truly started to grow and gain more and more popularity. When he was a child, it was recorded that he participated in singing and performing opportunities, but nothing more than just a hobby. Sombr officially started his singing career four years ago when he released his first song in October of 2021, “nothing left to say”. This was the moment, the start of his great and booming singing career. Some of his top hits include “Back to Friends”, “Undressed”, and his newest release, “12 to 12”. In his latest songs one of the lyrics is “In a room full of people I look for you, do you avoid me…” Sombr should have pulled a Taylor Swift for this concert and the lyric should have been “In a room full of people I [want you to bark for me], do you avoid me…” This will all make sense in a moment.

October 13, 2025, was the night when everything went down. Sombr was on his “Late Nights and Young Romance Tour” and was having his concert at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. As an artist, Sombr is known by many for always joking around and having a fun, good time. He is what people would refer to as a silly goose. In addition to this, Sombr even went on to claim “Anyone who knows me knows I have never uttered a serious word in my life”. With that being said, at this concert, during a moment between songs, Sombr told his audience, primarily underage girls, “Bark for me!” Seemingly, this request was already odd, but what followed the compliance of this request solidified the strangeness of this situation. After the barking from the audience quieted down, Sombr allegedly replied by saying, “Yeah, I'm Daddy". Excuse me?! The concert from there continued, but one person in the audience was not going to let this die down in silence.

Following the concert, 25-year-old Megan Tomasic posted a video on TikTok under the username @meganator __. Essentially, her video addressed the problematic nature of what Sombr did at his concert. One of the key points was how incredibly inappropriate it was for Sombr to ask his fans to bark for him, knowing that the majority of his fan base is underage girls. Sombr, being chronically online, responded to the video with a video of his own. In his video, Sombr addresses the situation as not a big deal because he is “freshly 20”. In addition to this, Sombr states in the video that “You need to find problematic people to hate on because I am just existing”. But is he truly just existing?

Many people found Tomasic’s video to be quite relatable, capturing the reality that there are people beyond Tomasic who find Sombr’s actions at the very least distasteful. While this drama surrounding Sombr was concerning, it was not considered a cancellable event. Many people continue to be divided on the matter, while others feel pulled to both sides. So…will you avoid Sombr or “look for me[him] too”?
